The best CrossFit shoes
The training shoes is something basic in CrossFit . If you're just starting out, you'll soon notice that people are wearing a slightly different type of clothing and accessories than in a traditional gym.
This type of footwear, although it may not seem so at first glance, it is necessary to perform wods properly and maintain shoe integrity.
Today we are going to look at the different models you can find for CrossFit with their main differences and functions.
Are CrossFit shoes necessary?
This is the most frequently asked question among those people who have just started with this sport. No accessory is essential, but the shoes are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
In my opinion the first thing you should buy because:
- With a running shoe you will feel unstable when lifting weights.
- If the shoe is not intended for CrossFit you are more likely to break it in exercises such as: rope climb, wall climbs…
Although new models appear every year, a CrossFit shoe is an investment for many years to come. If you have each shoe for your use you will save money.
If you use a running shoe for CrossFit you're likely to break it and have to buy a new running shoe + CrossFit shoe. At least that's how it happened to me.
Shoes for wods
In this case, as we are going to find all kinds of exercises, we want a versatile shoe. It can be used for running, for a rope climb, or for snatching. These are the different options we have:

2019 Models
Under Armour HOVR™ Rise
The HOVR Rise model has pleasantly surprised me in terms of comfort, especially when compared to the "harder" model, the TriBase Reign.
The HOVR Rise is more versatile and lighter with an 8 mm drop while the Tribase is 4 mm.
We were able to see James Newbury (UA sponsored athlete) wear them during the final day at the 2019 CrossFit Games.
You can learn more about this particular model in the HOVR Rise specific review.

Shoes for weightlifting

My recommendation if you're just starting out is a Metcon because they will serve you for everything.
Little by little you will see if, once this basic need is covered, you want to make a small investment in more specific shoes.

The quick answer is NO. In CrossFit nothing is mandatory, not even the t-shirt!
