How does the HYROX competition season work?

HYROX is one of the most challenging fitness competitions in the world, attracting thousands of athletes looking to test their endurance, strength and speed.

The HYROX season runs throughout the year with a series of events around the world, culminating in the World Championships.

Here's how the season works and how athletes can qualify for the most prestigious championships.

How to compete in HYROX?

The HYROX season consists of multiple events in cities around the world, where athletes can participate in different categories:

  • Individual Open and Pro (Men/Women)
  • Doubles (Men/Women/Mixed)
  • Relay (Men/Women/Mixed)

Anyone over 16 years of age can register and compete in a HYROX event without prior qualification.

Qualification for the World Championships

The World Championships are the highlight of the season and bring together the best athletes in the world.

Any competitor participating in a regular HYROX event has the opportunity to qualify, although the number of places is limited and varies according to the size of the event.

Classification process:

  1. Results by Time: The athletes with the best times in their category and age group can obtain a place for the World Championship.
  2. Classification Email: Qualifiers receive an email the day after the competition with a code to confirm their registration.
  3. Registration Deadline: Athletes have 48 hours to confirm their registration; if they fail to do so, their place passes to the next classified in the ranking.

Announced as the World Championshipall athletes compete with the Pro weights, except in the category Doubles Mixed and those over 60 years of age.

Elite 15 and the qualifying series

Elite athletes compete in the Elite 15 Serieswhich consists of exclusive events where the 15 best men and women can qualify directly for the World Championship. Places are obtained through:

  • Majors (Qualifying Events): Four events in selected cities.
  • Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ): Last chance to qualify before the World Championship. It will be held in Barcelona, Spain, April 26-27, 2025.

Each Major has a total prize pool of $60,000 (30,000 for men and 30,000 for women).

Only the athletes of the Elite 15 can compete for the absolute title of World Champion of Fitness Racing and qualify for economic prizes.

European Championships and Open Championships

In addition to the World ChampionshipsHYROX organizes the European Championships and other Open Championships in different continents.

These competitions are open to all athletes, without the need for prior qualification, and bring together participants of multiple nationalities.

HYROX Pro Doubles Elite 15

The 2024/2025 season introduces the Pro Doubles Elite 15 World Championshipwhere the best men's and women's doubles teams will compete for the title of world champions of the category. Qualification is obtained through the following events:
