Athletes Open 26.1

Jayson Hopper

jayson hopper 26.1

Jayson Hopper arrives at the Open 26.1 as the reigning CrossFit Games champion. In 2025 he started the season with a discreet 6th place in the Open, but finished the year on top of the podium. Today he is the man to beat. In 2026 the question is not if he is the favorite... but if he will dominate again from the first WOD.

Dallin Pepper

Dallin Pepper has been on the verge of glory for years. Second in the Games 2024, second in the Open 2025 and fourth in the Games of the same year. Always close, but without the title. Champion in teen categories and considered one of the most complete athletes on the circuit, 2026 may be the year Pepper stops being a promise and becomes a champion.

Colten Mertens

Colten Mertens was the major dominator of the Open 2025, with two victories and a second place that made it clear who rules in this format. However, the Games did not smile on him and he finished 12th. In 2026 he returns with a hunger for revenge: to repeat Open and prove that his explosiveness can also take him to the final podium.

Austin Hatfield

Austin Hatfield is the definition of steady progression. 10th in his debut in the Games 2024, 4th in the Open 2025 and 5th in the Games with two event wins. Each season he climbs one step higher. In the Open 26.1 he is not only looking to stand out: he is looking to confirm that his path points directly to the podium.

Is the 26.1 WOD already known?

Short answer: no.

So far, CrossFit has only published teaser tracks and content“, playing with the community to guess what might be coming. Dave Castro and his team have been testing Open workouts at The Ranch, but without revealing anything definitive.

What we do know from previous years:

  • They usually appear Open classic movements: thrusters, double-unders, toes-to-bar, burpees...
  • The first WOD is almost always very affordable, with versions Rx, Scaled and Foundations so that everyone can participate.
  • The format is usually AMRAP or “for time” simple, designed to be easy to judge in a crowded box.

We can speculate, but any “leaked WOD” today is just that: speculation. The smartest thing to do is to prepare for a breathing workout, with decent volume and basic CrossFit movements..
