HYROX Madrid November 2025

Chronicle

There are objective data and subjective impressions that lead me to affirm that the Madrid 2025 HYROX is one of the biggest events of this sport that has ever been organized.

Nearly 17,000 participants have finished (this is probably close to 20,000 tickets sold).

In the history of the sport only Glasgow 2025, Paris 2025, Sydney 2025 and the biggest so far Birmingham 2025 have surpassed this figure.

Hyrox Madrid has narrowly surpassed the most iconic HYROXes such as Berlin 2025, New York 2025 or any of those in London.

The organization described it as impeccable.

The pavilion where it was held was perfect. Big, with bathrooms inside the roxzone, wide spaces for the spectators, bridge over the race area that avoided the queues of the crossing and interior catering area. The biggest event ever held in this country and the one with the least queues.

The opinion of the competitors with whom I spoke is one of praise for the judges. More involved and trained than ever.

Individual pro men

The PRO tests were divided into two days. Thursday and Sunday. Thursday's winners are the ones who got the best split times.

If you compare the times of the Sled Push you will notice that there is no less than a minute difference between one and the other. I theorize that the wear and tear of the four days of competition meant that on Saturday the famous crease was greater and consequently the coefficient of friction.

French Alan Cao won Thursday (and the overall) under 58 minutes. He was followed by England's Ollie Russell (Botterill's doubles partner in Major) and third in Overall the same year. Charlie Botterill which expired on Saturday.

There are several things to say about the young Englishman:

  • In the morning he won the Open men's Overall with the seventh best time in history (53:56).
  • He has won the two pro days in Valencia so he has won three of the four days that have been held in Spain this fall.
  • He also won the Relay (with 3 compatriots) with the 11th time ever.
  • And a thought: In two weeks he makes his debut in singles at the Melbourne Major and goes for victory in doubles. Isn't this guy competing too much?

The most outstanding Spaniards were Jon Iriondo Thursday (7th overall), Pedro Toral on Saturday (9th) and I would like to make a special mention to Pepe Salama who doubled on Thursday and Saturday and on the slowest day (Saturday) did a great race (9th).

We will have to keep an eye on Jon Iriondo because in the Valencia Marathon he wants to beat the best record in the history of a competitor weighing more than 90 kg.

Emilio Aguayo arrived at HYROX Madrid with a great desire to compete, but was not going through his best physical moment. He had been having strange symptoms for several days: general malaise, poor appetite and digestive problems. He didn't get completely sick, but he felt “at 80%”.

Still, he decided to give it a try, especially after missing Maastricht, Valencia and Dublin due to injury or a stomach virus. The current reality of being a father of two young children, with constant exposure to viruses, doesn't help either.

During the race, these symptoms took their toll. After the first few meters of the Sled Pull He had to stop to vomit and, after that, he was completely empty and without strength. He tried to continue, even in the burpees, but his body did not respond and he was forced to give up.

Despite the bad day, Emilio keeps his motivation intact: he will compete next week in London and then in Frankfurt, with the idea of exhausting these first opportunities of the season before taking a break.

Women's Pro Individual

One competitor stands out from the rest.

Megan Jacoby made the fastest mark (by far) made on Spanish soil with 58:40 by a woman.

The North American, former world champion and former record woman, has been almost a year out of elite competitions due to herniated disc surgery. The one in the capital was his second individual competition since then, achieving with great solvency the qualification for the Major in Phoenix.

A world away (more than 5 minutes) came the young Danish woman Valgreen and third overall (1st on Saturday) finished third in the general standings (1st on Saturday) finished Portuguese Leonor Neto (also 3rd in Valencia).

The best Spaniards were Sandra Dominguez (5th) improving her best record, the Galician Silvia Garcia Lorenzo (12th) and Noelia Gonzalez (13th) who underperformed.

Other categories:

Manuela Garcia and Elena Rouco beat the Spanish record in doubles pro 59:55.

Manuela Garcia and Aitor Lizarazu beat the Spanish record in mixed doubles 54:47.

Monica Ferrer beat the Spanish women's open record (held by her coach Manuela).

Previous

The growth of HYROX globally (particularly in Spain) in number of competitors has been continuous. Just a year ago that trend changed and the registrations had a peak of registrations that consolidates this growth.

The Iberian events went from 3000/4000 tickets sold in 2024, with one-day events, to 10,000 in Malaga in April this year and 12,000 in Barcelona in May. Both events had three days of competition.

A few weeks ago, the record number of registered participants was broken in Birmingham with nearly 25,000 in five days of competition.

HYROX Madrid breaks national records with nearly 17,000 tickets and 4 days of competition. It joins the league of big cities such as Paris, Berlin, Berlin, Dallas or Sidney, surpassing the rest of the big events.

An absolute success in terms of attendance.

MAP HYROX MADRID

The route will be done with a wide roxzone that will allow only two laps and a quarter to complete each kilometer. As the OUT arch (and the start) are before the IN arch, we will have to run two complete laps and the stretch that joins these two arches.

With a calculation made by a competitor (Angel de Celis) with Autocad, he found that each lap has 477 meters. And that gives this time per lap with respect to the pace of the thousand.

Most outstanding participants

The pro individual competitions will be held on two different days: Thursday and Saturday.

It is possible that some of the participants do not compete and have only signed up to have the option to attend. Two of the registered participants are top world top

Thursday Male.

Pelayo Menendez (4th of the world elite 2024) is registered but in principle will not participate because he is not fully recovered from the injury that occurred in the World Cup.

Pablo Sanchez will be the big favorite on Thursday. Fourth best Spaniard in history with the idea of improving his times more and more.

His rivals will be the French Alan Cao and the English Ollie Russel (57:01 in Warsaw).

Thursday Female

Meg Jacoby (2024 world champion) is signed up. She has not made any kind of confirmation on her Instagram so it is an unknown. If she does, she will be a top favorite.

Saturday Male.

In the same case as Meg is the 2024 world champion and current record holder, the Austrian Alex Roncevic. In his instagram he gives no sign of coming. If he comes it will be great news (he was already a winner in the first Hyrox in Madrid in 2021).

Other top registrants:

Charlie Botteril: winner in Valencia and competitor of the moment.

Emilio Aguayo: after recovering from the injury that has given him war these months, he comes to go under 57 minutes and regain his top 15 position in the list to access the Major of Phoenix.

Pedro Toral to continue growing and to be as close as possible to the top two.

Pablo Valverde to recover the sensations of the end of last season.

Women's Saturday

The big favorite (if she attends) is Switzerland's Melanie Mauer. World top 15 competitor

Several Spaniards will be fighting to improve their records and be close to the top foreigners:

Paula Bernabe
Noelia Gonzalez
Jennifer Marin
Melania Timon

British influencer Lucy Davies (former hyrox open recordwoman) and Belgian elite competitor Lena Putters are signed up but will not compete due to injury.
