What is Earth 2.0?

The Earth 2.0 is a professional jump rope, designed for demanding workouts such as CrossFit, HIIT and boxing. Its main advantage is the possibility to add weight both on the handles and on the cable, which allows you to adapt the intensity according to your level.
Includes:
- Handles with adjustable loading system (up to 500 g).
- Interchangeable cables of different thicknesses: 2.5 mm, 4 mm and 8 mm.
- Carrying case.
This camber is designed to last: stainless steel, non-slip grip and smooth rotation thanks to its high-end bearings.

The Earth 2.0 is a rope developed by the Spanish brand Velites and offers a lot of combinations so you can make jumping a much bigger challenge. Believe me, it won't just be a little bit more difficult, but you can make the training as complicated as you want it to be.

As you know in CrossFit we are constantly being tested. Now it's no longer enough to do doubles or even triples with the speed rope, but rather to the fashion is to jump with heavy weighted rope.

Even if you are an expert in double jumps and you control the rope very well, with the Earth 2.0 you will take your workouts to the next level.

The Earth 2.0 complete package includes, in addition to other accessories:
3 ropes of different thicknesses: 2.5 mm, 4 mm and 8 mm (monster)
3 pairs of weightsfrom 50 g, 150 g and 200 g that you can combine.

Pros and cons

  • Very smooth and precise rotation

Product Cons

  • High price compared to other combas
  • Does not include all cables (sold separately).

Tips for getting started with Earth 2.0

Even if you are good at double jumps you will need to adapt to the new rope. Keep in mind that the speed ropes are 1.8 - 2 mm thick and the grips are normally light weight.

As you add ballast and interchange the strings you will notice muscle exhaustion much faster. And of course the pulsations are accelerated much faster even if you have experience in jumping rope.

To progress more easily my advice is to start getting to know the rope by doing single jumps, as the weight will make the rhythm of your doubles very different. Get to know the new rhythm set by the heaviest rope (not so fast anymore) along with the weight of the weights. It is logical that you need to jump higheras a gift you will have textra work for the twins.

Can it be used for beginners?

If you are new to CrossFit it is normal that you wonder if you really need this rope or not. The truth is that no one starts with a weighted rope, since at the beginning we already have enough of a fight with double jumps.

To help you decide in the buying process I would say that Earth 2.0 could be for you:

  • Because it is a very good rope and the bearings turn very well.
  • If you want to save in the long run. You don't have to start by buying all the weights and ropes. If you want to go to the next level later, you only have to buy what you need and you will have saved on the initial rope purchase.
  • If you think about competing and want to be prepared for anything.

On the other hand, if you know that you only want a speed rope and you are not interested in adding weight or thicker bows, it is better to buy the Firebecause it is more economical. If you are interested in the comparative, in this post we make a review of the best combos for CrossFit.

How to adjust heavy rope step by step

  1. Find the height you need by stepping on the rope and bringing the handles to the armpit..

This is a reference that is used, but within this range everyone likes to jump in a certain way.

The more rope the easier it is if you have not mastered it, the less rope the jump is more efficient.

Take the mark where you need to cut. It can be at either end, since they are identical.

If you have doubts about the height you are comfortable with, be conservative when cutting, it is always good to remember that you can always make it a little smaller but not the other way around.

2. Cut with a somewhat decent pliers/pliers because now the cable is not as easy to cut as with thin speed cables.

3. Release the cable from the handle to manipulate it more easily.

The rope is secured with two fasteners. The first has a spring you must turn and the secondThe material is extracted in a perpendicular direction.

4. Removes the system that fits the cable into the grips to add it to the cable we have cut.

For to loosen the screws, use the wrench on the rope itself. and that you will find by unscrewing the back of the handles.

5. Release the rope and screw on the new end.

6. Reattach the rope to the handles. to have the camber adjusted.

If you prefer, you can watch the step by step in this video.

Professional athletes recommending the Earth

Brent Fikowskithe 3rd fittest man on the planet according to Games 2021, and Kristi Eramo (8th) train already with the Velites rope as we have seen in their social networks.

Both are already used to competing with similar ropes and Earth 2.0 gives them the tools they need to be prepared.

Who this camber is (and is not) for

Recommended for:

  • Intermediate and advanced CrossFit athletes.
  • People looking to increase strength and endurance with a single accessory.
  • Those who have already mastered the double under and want to progress.

Not recommended for:

  • Beginners without basic technique: the additional weight can increase the risk of injury if you are not in control of the movement.
  • People with shoulder, elbow or wrist injuries: use with ballast generates greater joint load.
  • Athletes with a history of tendinitis or overuse: repeated use without adequate recovery may worsen the problem.

Risks to be taken into account:

  • Muscle overload if used without progression.
  • Poor technique amplified by thick cable or load.
  • Greater impact on wrists if the turn is not clean.
  • Rapid fatigue if the workload is not regulated.

Tip: start with short sessions, with no load or thin cable, and listen to your body's signals. It is not a camber to learn from scratch.

Conclusion: Is it worth it?

Yes, if you have a solid technical base and want to improve your performance. It's one of the few combas on the market that really adapts to your evolution and allows you to train with progressive load without losing speed or quality.

If you train CrossFit, do double jumps or are looking for variety in your workouts, this is an excellent investment.
