Back to Carson! Mythical tennis stadium where the Gamess were held from 2010 to 2016, before its move to Madison.
Women
Only 8 seats and many familiar faces.
Alex Gazan: Won the semifinal in 2023 and has been 10th in Quarterfinals worldwide. Her coach, Justin Cotler, says she will be Fittest on Earth someday. She was 5th in the Games in 2023.
Arielle Loewen: 3rd in the last Games, the first place is between her and Gazan.
Devyn Kim: She won the last Games with Team Invictus. 12th in Dubai, but could be one of the surprises in this competition.
Olivia Kerstetter: 7th last year and 16th in her first time in the highest category of the Games. Second Semifinals at only 18 years old, a whole career ahead of her.
Emily Rolfe: The Canadian athlete is a strong candidate to win the first event due to her ability to combine running with lifting.
Bethany Flores: Despite winning the West Coast Classic in 2021, he has been unable to compete in the Games in either 2021 or 2022. His highest achievement in the Gamess was eighth place in 2019.
Sydney MichalysenGymnastic ability and upper body strength make her an athlete with a chance of making the top 8.
Dani Speegle: Last year she failed to qualify for the Games and we saw her express some criticism of CrossFit on a podcast. However, it seems she is now determined to return to the CrossFit Games.
Abigail Domit, Rebecca Fuselier are other familiar faces who will try to break into the top 8.
Men
9 seats.
Cole Sager: Athlete who knows what it's like to compete in Carson. He was 5th in the last Games held there in 2016. He is Head Coach of the CompTrain program.
Justin Medeiros: Last year in the Semifinals he raised doubts about his physical condition, which were later confirmed in the Games. Medeiros has been 12th in the past Quarterfinals, will we see again the Medeiros who won 2 times the Games?
Patrick Vellner: First in the past Semifinals, 2nd in the past Games, 4th in the past Games, 1st in the past Semifinals, 2nd in the past Games, 4th in the past Games. Wodapaloozawon the ROGUE. Tommy Marquez describes him as the best CrossFit athlete who has never won the CrossFit Games.
Sam Kwant: He also knows what it's like to compete at Carson, in fact he did it his freshman year. 3rd at Wodapalooza, Kwant is like Haapalainen, no one notices but he is there, and Haapalainen finished 3rd in Europe.
James Sprague: Last year he got his first ticket to the Games in the top category. Previously he competed 2 times in teen. He has been 8th in the Quarterfinals of this region.
Colten Mertens: Despite being a crowd favorite, Andrew Hiller has ruled him out of the top 8 that will qualify for Games. Hiller argues that Mertens' short stature, the smallest athlete in the field, works against him.
Brent FikowskiFikowski was second behind Vellner in the last Semifinal. The Canadian is coming up trumps in presential competitions. Fourth in Games and ROGUE, second in Wodapalooza 2024.
Tudor Magda, Brandon Luckett, Cole Greashaber and William Leahy are other athletes worth following.
