Are specific CrossFit shoes necessary?
Not essential, but yes highly recommended. They give you stability in lifting, protection when climbing rope and durability against wear and tear.
Is it possible to wear running shoes?
Technically yes, but it is not ideal. The soft sole of running shoes generates instability and wears out quickly.
What are the best running shoes for women?
Models such as Nano X5, Metcon 10 or Velites Hybrid have women's versions with specific fittings. Always look for good traction, lateral stability and reinforcements.
Although new models appear every year, a CrossFit shoe is an investment for many years to come. If you have each shoe for its intended use you will save money. If you use a running model for CrossFit you are likely to break it and end up buying a new running shoe + CrossFit shoe.
